Last weekend, Joey Logano dominated the Bank of America 500 at the well-known 1.5 mile track, Charlotte Motor Speedway. He has guaranteed a spot at one of the final eight Chase drivers. Who will be next? Take a look at who to keep an eye on Sunday.
This week, NASCAR heads to the land of Toto and Dorothy for the second race of the second elimination round of the Chase. Kansas Speedway is a 1.5 mile, D-shaped oval track with varying degrees of banking. The Hollywood Casino 400 will consist of 267 laps around the track to complete just over 400 miles. Finishing well this week is important for drivers contending for the Championship, but a win is even more important.
This week’s Fast Five accounts for drivers’ past performances at Kansas Speedway and their performances during the first round of the Chase.
The Fast Five for Kansas includes: Martin Truex Jr., who has yet to win at Kansas but has been a strong contender on intermediate tracks this season; Matt Kenseth, who is a two-time winner at Kansas, and one of the most dominant drivers on mile and a half tracks this season; Kevin Harvick, who is a previous winner at Kansas and is tied for the most runner-up finishes at this track; Joey Logano, who is a previous winner at Kansas, posted a top five finish in the Spring race, and won’t have to play it safe to win this weekend; and Dale Earnhardt Jr., who has yet to win at Kansas, but posted a top three finish in the Spring race.
In addition to the Fast Five, keep an eye on Kyle Larson and Ryan Newman as the dark horses.
Tune into the race Sunday at 2:15 on NBC.
