Two Day Music and Fan Festival in Nashville, TN To Feature More Than a Dozen Music Performances – Full Schedule Announced Today
NEW YORK, NY/NASHVILLE, TN (2.4.15) – Time Inc./Sports Illustrated today announced that the exclusive headline performance from Kings of Leon during the 2015 SI Swimsuit Music and Fan Festival in Nashville TN will air live across a series of the company’s digital channels. The broadcast is set for 7:00 p.m. ET on February 11 from Schermerhorn Symphony Center.
Hosted by Time Inc. on air personalities, the live production – featuring red carpet arrivals of the 2015 Swimsuit models and VIPs as well as an opening performance from Mikky Ekko – will air on SI.com, TIME.com, PEOPLE.com, EW.com, InStyle.com and the new Daily Cut platform (available at dailycut.com and as an iOS or Android App). This will be the company’s most ambitious live concert production to date and one of several live shows originating from the festival. Also live will be SI Now (SI’s live 30-minute talk show which airs 1:00 p.m. ET M-F) and Time Inc. partner 120 Sports will dedicate live coverage throughout launch week.

Due to the overwhelming demand and limited ticket availability, a number of tickets for the concert were given away via lottery through Kings of Leon fan channels. In addition to the Kings of Leon performance, an extravaganza of live music will be hosted at “Swimville” on Nashville’s Famous Lower Broadway Feb. 11-12, showcasing an array of Nashville’s finest artists spanning all genres. All “Swimville” events will be free and open to the public including all of the musical performances.
The talented list of performers at “Swimville” will include: Grammy-nominated country hit maker and Middle Tennessee native, Chris Young; prolific Nashville singer/songwriter Holly Williams; GRAMMY-nominated and critically acclaimed singer/songwriter Will Hoge; acclaimed Southern rock/country band A Thousand Horses; critically-acclaimed Nashville songstress Nikki Lane; well-respected country/bluegrass/rock singer/songwriter Chris Stapleton; sweet-sounding retro pop/jazz duo Sugar & The Hi-Lows; popular indie prog-rock band Moon Taxi; charismatic singer/songwriter/poet Rayland Baxter; dynamic beat, punk and rock & roll trio The Ettes; and alternative indie rock band signed to Kings of Leon’s Serpents & Snakes Records, The Weeks.

The Nashville events series will be a cornerstone of the 2015 SI Swimsuit launch with the cross-platform debut in print, digital, mobile and across social media is scheduled for February 9. Sports illustrated also announced a special partnership with The Travel Channel to produce a five-part series “SI: The Making of Swimsuit 2015”, which debuts February 15. A staple of the annual entertainment calendar, Swimsuit is one of the great enterprises in media that reaches more than 70MM adults including more – 18-34 year olds than the Super Bowl – through its platforms and extensions. Almost instantly the anointed cover model becomes the face of popular culture joining a heralded group of successful entrepreneurs, entertainment moguls and impresarios such as Kathy Ireland, Tyra Banks, Heidi Klum, Elle MacPherson, Brooklyn Decker and Kate Upton who all cite SI Swimsuit as their launching pad. The fashion describes SI Swimsuit as the “Oscars of Swimwear” as an appearance in the issue is a crowning achievement for swimsuit and accessory manufacturers.
The 2015 SI Swimsuit launch across print, digital and mobile is scheduled for February 9. The Swim City to Swimville fan Festival Tour kicks off on 2.9, 2.10 in Herald Square and then on to Swimville. Also Tune in to Travel Channel beginning Sunday, February 15 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT for back-to-back premieres of “SI: The Making of Swimsuit 2015” – a behind-the-scenes journey through the creation of the upcoming Sports Illustrated Swimsuit multi-platform edition. The five-part series of specials will air nightly through Wednesday, February 18 and anchors Travel Channel’s “Beach Week” – a multi-platform network event, hosted by Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Nina Agdal.
