February 16th, 2011- In 2011 Duck River Speedway will be under the management of Shelbyville, TN’s Mr. Jimmy Nowlin. A long time racer and supporter at Duck River, Nowlin previously owned Duck River Speedway from 1985 to 1990. During that time, Nowlin started out with an average of 45 cars on a weekly bases. Under Nowlins management between 1985-1990 it quickly grew to an average of 95 cars showing up to compete at Duck River Speedway weekly. He also made improvements to the speedway during that time by expanding the track and raising the banking to make the track more competitive for racers.Now with an opportunity to continue the legacy of Duck River Speedway , Nowlin will switch roles from driver back to track promoter. Plans are to make Duck River Speedway as competitive as it has been in years past, as well make it a “Family Track”, where you can bring the whole family and enjoy some great entertainment and racing action on Saturday nights.
Classes running in 2011 are Super Late Models, 2 Barrel Late Models, Super Stock, Pure Stock, Outlaw Pony, Mini Stock, & Economy Mini Stock. 2011 Rules can be found on the rules link.
March 12th, 2011 will be a practice day at the track and March 19th, 2011 will be the Season Opener at Duck River Speedway.
