As NASCAR heads into its last race of the third elimination round, there are a few drivers who are able to clinch a spot in the final four if they perform well, but it’s a tight race this year. Jeff Gordon has already clinched a spot in the Final Four. Kyle Busch can clinch this weekend with a finish of third or better if he doesn’t lead laps, and Kevin Harvick can clinch a spot with a finish of second or better without leading laps. All others can only control their future in the Chase by winning.
The final race of the Eliminator round of the Chase takes place this weekend at Phoenix International Raceway. Phoenix International Raceway sits one mile long, and has varying degrees of banking in the turns. With so much on the line and so much at stake, this race could be one of the wildest yet. Only four drivers will remain as Championship contenders after this race.
The Fast Five for the Final Eliminator round race include: Kevin Harvick, who is almost unstoppable at this track with seven previous wins at Phoenix; Jimmie Johnson, who has four previous wins here and holds the best average finishing position; Carl Edwards, who is a previous winner and strong contender on intermediate tracks; Brad Keselowski, who has been a front runner several weeks in a row and is a top contender at Phoenix; and Kurt Busch, who posted a top five finish at Phoenix in March and has been a strong contender at intermediate tracks.
Be sure to tune into the race Sunday at 2:30 on NBC.
